HOW TO BECAME A VOLUNTEER

TAKE PART IN AN EXPEDITION! MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SCIENCE!

Congratulations!
You have taken the right decision to go to an archaeological expedition as a volunteer!
Firstly, you will considerably increase your historical knowledge and overall cultural awareness!
Secondly, you will acquire skills for actual archaeological work, understand algorithm of scientific research!
Thirdly, you will have a great time by the sea and meet a lot of new interesting people, most of which will become your close friends for many years to come!

You should understand the following principles, on which participation in an expedition is based:

1. Expedition — is a scientific event, organized first of all in accordance with logics and purposes of archaeological research. This entails respective discipline requirements. At a first glance, they might seem even harsh, but later on you will understand how absolutely necessary they are and will gladly accept them.
2. Life conditions in the camp require certain culture in relationships and patience, both to people and to natural circumstances, which you and other participants of the expedition encounter.
3. Fees paid by volunteers, are, unfortunately, necessary. Nonetheless, you will understand that the funds raised are used exclusively to satisfy your needs and for more economical every day routine of the expedition. No one desires to make their own profit from these fees. Moreover, many aspects of camp life and events are financed by sponsors.
4. Recreation, although being secondary in the priorities of the expedition after works on the excavations, plays nonetheless a significant and very memorable role in the expedition. We must say, you will spent more time at your leisure, rather than working.

We should mention in particular, that you can discuss different options of your expeditions prior to departure and agree upon certain conditions. This concerns everything: terms and conditions, payment, works on the excavation. Besides, there are at least five options of accommodation: from most luxurious and moderately priced at the same time, to most economical and very acceptable. Same can be said about transportation.

Now it is time to choose which of the expeditions you wish to join. Conditions of participation in Artesian and Eastern-Bosporus archaeological expeditions differ from each other.

Write your questions to e-mail address info@archae.ru  and td@archae.ru speak to Tatiana Dadykina, Director of the Fund, which will give you exhaustive information about all issues of interest to you.

We hope, that after this conversation you will become a volunteer, and then, in autumn, at regular reunions of expeditions participants, you will join the common exclamation: «EXPEDITION — IS GREAT!» .
